December 3, 2009 Noah's Eye Surgery

On December 3rd 2009, Noah went to Shands Children's Surgical Center to have surgery to hopefully help correct a condition known as "Accomodative Esotropia".  We first noticed an eye problem at the tender age of 15 months and he was referred to a Pediatric Eye Specialist and diagnosed two months later at 17 months.  After several months of patching and bifocals, the doctor felt that surgery would also aid in improving his eyesight.  As his brother, Jared, has so eloquently put it, "His eyes don't always work together".  So, here's a brief look into what our youngest son went through that day in December.  He was such a "Little Trooper" and we are so THANKFUL that the surgery went well.
He had a wonderful surgical team and surgery staff that day!

 Entering SHANDS CHILDREN'S SURGICAL CENTER.
Waiting patiently in the center's waiting area...  No Food OR Drink Allowed since MIDNIGHT!  It's currently about 9:30am in this sitting photo!

Taken back into the PRE-OP area.
About 10am.
Still no Food or Drink...

But seems to be handling the lack of "sustenance" very well!!!
Finally,
About Noon...  Noah is wheeled off to surgery.
Mommy and Daddy go for lunch two doors over with a round "pager" in hand.
Similar to the kind you get at the Olive Garden when you are waiting for a table.
I wish that was the case.
Instead we are ANXIOUSLY waiting for the "BUZZ" to hear how our Precious Little Man is Doing.
Two hours pass....  We are paged to POST-OP.
No words to describe the next 20-30 minutes.
Then we have a quiet corner to rest with our son while he is monitored closely.

Eventually,
we are back home and Noah is in "good spirits".
Seems to really enjoy wearing his Spiderman Sunglasses (courtesy of his Granny Greene :).

Oh, And Of Course...  Enjoying some Food AND Drink TOO!!!
